Pride of Place

Pride of Place

We’re continuing our summer focus on gathering LGBTQI+ stories of King’s Cross. Last weekend, we pitched up our rainbow coloured mobile Story Palace at the Queer and Now festival at Tate Britain. Thanks to Jan Pimblett from the The London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) and Speak Out London for letting us tag along!

Several brave souls bared their King’s Cross stories of love and heartache. From declarations of unrequited love at the station gates:

to the story of a first gay kiss at the Leisure Lounge:

and an encounter en-route to London Friends that didn’t quite go as planned:

All of these stories and more will be uploaded to our Historypin collection. If you have a KX queer story to share get in touch with Polly at polly@historypin.org. Or come see us at London Pride on 8 July, we’ll be there at SoHo Square with the LMA. We’re also taking over the LMA LGBT History Club on 2 August. See you there!
