Local Storytelling with the over 60s

We’re off to an exciting start with our story gathering workshops. We currently have active groups at Marchmont Street Community Centre, St Pancras Community Association, and Millman Street Community Centre. We’ve met some amazing people, and heard stories that have made us laugh, cry and drop our jaws in disbelief.

We’re just about to launch a new over 60s storytelling group at The Living Centre in Somers Town, in partnership with We Are Ageing Better St Pancras.

We are Ageing Better is a project designed and lead by local older people, who come together to work on ideas and events that reduce loneliness and isolation within the local community. This varies from monthly cream tea sessions to research trips to different places in the UK! The next scheduled trip is on the 14th & 15th June to Birmingham (a small free will apply).

If you are over 60 and living in or around Somers Town, come and join us to share your story, help create a heritage walk, meet new people and chat over tea and cake.

Sessions start on 5 May 2017 at the St Pancras and Somers Town Living Centre (2 Ossulston St, Kings Cross, London NW1 1DF). The sessions will run every other Wednesday for 6 sessions from 10.30am – 11.30am, and there will be tea and cake from 11.30am-12pm.

As well as sharing your stories and contributing to a living collection of local memories, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn more about your local area and join a trip to Birmingham in Summer 2017.

Come and get involved! To join the group, or talk the project through, get in touch with me on polly@historypin.org or 0207 253 9781.
